Last Week at Imurj

THIS PAST WEEK AT IMURJ, WE HAD A LOT OF GREAT EVENTS FOR EVERYONE TO ENJOY. HERE’S A RUNDOWN OF WHAT YOU MISSED!

 

 

Local Jam featuring The Kids Downtown

For the first time, the Tuesday Night Local Jam featured a monthly rotating house band to host the event! The Kids Downtown are the house band for the month of June. Tre’ Mars (vocals) helped lead the event while musicians collaborated on stage, many of whom had never played with each other before. You can catch The Kids Downtown on Tuesday the 18th for the last Local Jam in June!

 

 

The Geb: “Ordinary Lives” Album Release Party

 The Geb held their album release party for their first album, “Ordinary Lives” on June 8th. The album was recorded at Imurj Studios. Featuring performances from Stephen Munoz, Zoa Black, and The Geb themselves, all ticket proceeds from the event went to benefit the arts programs at Ligon Middle School.

 

 

Red Hat Afterparties

After a concert at Red Hat is finished, the party doesn’t stop! Just walk two blocks north to Imurj to find a great afterparty featuring similar artists. On June 7th Kong Must Dead, Foxy Moron, and Unaka Prong were the featured performers after the Lake Street Dive concert. If you missed the energy-filled crowd that night, check out upcoming afterparties for the following concerts: Vampire Weekend (June 21) and Slightly Stooped (June 22)!

Artist Member Spotlight: Great Father Whale, Frances Eliza, Sea of Tranquility, David Rubin

Come join us at Imurj on June 20th for June’s Artist Member Spotlight! Featuring Imurj Artist Members David Rubin, Sea of Tranquility, Frances Eliza, and Great Father Whale, this free event highlights our members and gives them a supportive environment to perform in. Ponysaurus Brewing is taking over the tap for the night. Catch live art and poetry by David Rubin, and then stay for great musical acts. Doors are at 7, and the show starts at 7:30.

 

 

Softspoken Album Release & Get Sad, Sing Bad

 

On June 16th, Emo Raleigh presents Softspoken, Heartsick, Sun & Flesh, and In Color for the album release party of Deaf Perception at Imurj. Doors are at 5:30 and show is at 6:00. Tickets are $10 advance/$13 day-of.
Stick around after the show for the free event Get Sad, Sing Bad: Emo Karaoke. Signups are at 9, and karaoke begins at 9:30.

 

 

Crooked Arrow Comedy

Happy Pride Month! On June 25th, join us for Crooked Arrow Comedy, which showcases local comedians who identify as anything other than straight. This event is FREE in honor of Pride Month! Corey Freeman is the host, with performances from Jackie Flannigan, Linda Clark, and Caroline Smith. Doors are at 8:30, and the show starts at 9:00.
