The night will begin with a dance lesson at 7pm, followed by dancing at 7:30. There will be a featured Bachata Dance Competition starting promptly at 10pm.  The winning couple will receive $100 cash prize for their dance prowess. In honor of this special day, there will also be a Cava sparkling wine toast, which is included in the admission price. You  must be 18 years old to enter and 21 to drink.

Juan Matta of Mucho Rhythm Dance Company says, “The wonderful people at Imurj have invited us to host a latin themed night and we couldn’t pass up the opportunity. It’s an awesome space with plenty of room to dance and with lovely sections to kick back and socialize. Our formula will be an even mix of Kizomba, Bachata and Salsa. We are super excited about this event!”

There are no advance tickets sold for this event.  Cash at door only: $10 per person.

About La Cueva

La Cueva at Imurj – the Artists’ Cafe is an underground dance party in the heart of downtown Raleigh which happens twice per month on Thursdays.  Pedro Paz (Somo’s Mambo Dance Co.) and Juan Matta (Mucho Rhythm Dance Co.) have teamed up to bring this lovely bi-monthly event to share their passion of music and dance.  Juan Matta says, “Pedro and I met out Salsa dancing. We thought that downtown Raleigh needed a Latin night so we teamed up. We figured that we’d get a better response, following, and attendance if we did it together, so here we are!”  The formula for the music is equal parts Salsa, Bachata and Kizomba. The social is open to all dance levels and there is no dance partner necessary. Imurj provides plenty of space for the curious observers to kick back and watch and features a dance floor for the rhythm bugs.   There are talented guest instructors, which provide lessons before the dancing begins.
