About La Cueva
La Cueva at Imurj – the Artists’ Cafe is an underground dance party in the heart of downtown Raleigh which happens twice per month on Thursdays. Pedro Paz (Somo’s Mambo Dance Co.) and Juan Matta (Mucho Rhythm Dance Co.) have teamed up to bring this lovely bi-monthly event to share their passion of music and dance. Juan Matta says, “Pedro and I met out Salsa dancing. We thought that downtown Raleigh needed a Latin night so we teamed up. We figured that we’d get a better response, following, and attendance if we did it together, so here we are!” The formula for the music is equal parts Salsa, Bachata and Kizomba. The social is open to all dance levels and there is no dance partner necessary. Imurj provides plenty of space for the curious observers to kick back and watch and features a dance floor for the rhythm bugs. There are talented guest instructors, which provide lessons before the dancing begins.
