Featured Recording: Sadie Rock and The Mad Ryans “Already Whole”

Already Whole is one of my favorite songs I’ve written. I came up with the first verse of this song in like four minutes while driving. I sang it into my janky audio recording app and arranged the chords when I got home. Then I didn’t come up with the rest of the song for weeks, maybe months. It was a bit of a deviation from the styles I had written in the past so that might be a factor in the length of the writing process. After the lyrics and melody were done, the chords came quickly. Arranging it with the band was incredibly easy because they are savage visionaries who never do anything wrong.

We did the studio recording with Imurj’s own Paul Voran whom we love and couldn’t be happier to have recorded with. He’s efficient and professional and artistic which made for a straightforward recording process. We all had a very fun time. Landon tracked the drums with approximately zero mistakes. Agis tracked on his Hofner violin bass with flat wound strings and I used what I always use, my Gibson SG. I did the lead vocals first and then Paul, Rachel (our manager), and I arranged the backing vocals right before I sang them one vocal at a time. I believe it was Paul’s idea to put the vocals in the intro. He’s a cool guy.

We had a blasty-blast creating this song and we’re so happy that it’s finally out to share with everyone!
