Imurj Artist Member Spotlight Series

Imurj presents another Artist Member Spotlight featuring Dustin Buck, Spur, Jenny Lyden with Brian Jones, and For Good Measure. Opening the show, Dustin Buck hit the stage with his “guitar forward, alternative rock sound.” Influenced by musicians like The Beatles, Tame Impala, and Rex Orange County, Dustin’s original songs like “Better” showcase his songwriting abilities, along with his RnB and hip hop influences. His goal is for the audience to hear his lyrics and be influenced in some way, and he hopes they can take something from his music to apply to real life. As an Imurj Open Mic regular, Dustin loves how “Raleigh is building a music community and everyone has each other’s backs.” You can keep up with Dustin’s music on Soundcloud!

Switching it up with their rockabilly sound, Spur is a two man group consisting of Will and John. The duo says “music is the most fun in spaces like Imurj, and it’s great to have a community of artists and musicians.” With inspirations like Elvis Presley, Chris Isaak, and Elvis Castillo, Spur wants to get the audience to dance as much as possible, while also seeing something “real” in the performance. Their authentic sounds shines through as their unique blend of country, rock and roll, and rockabilly gets the crowd moving.

Jenny Lyden and Brian Jones are a duo that is unafraid to try lots of different sounds. Their “adult variety” sound is heavily inspired by Jimi Hendrix, Freddie Mercury, and Jenny’s mom. They love how Imurj provides “validation for musicians through a supportive crowd that can offer feedback and appreciation.” You can keep up with Jenny and Brian, and download their music at!

Headlining the Thursday night show, For Good Measure, featuring John Griffin, Chris Fitzgerald, Jason Ovens, Brian Worthington, and Travis Muessig, hit the stage with their “eclectic and melodic” sound. With influences like Marvin Gaye, Iron Maiden, and Steve Harris, the band brings “something for everyone.” Their goal is for the audience to find joy in their music, and they “love when people get up to dance.” The band’s energy comes through each of their songs, and the audience can tell how they “love to perform for people who like to listen to some great music.” Be sure to keep up with For Good Measure on Facebook and Reverbnation!
